1979 - Xenrus Chrono Alarm Solar
Xenrus was a line of solar powered watches produced in Taipei, Taiwan by the Sunrex Corporation and sold by the Shaper Image compay in the United States. It was sold in other countries under different names ("Commander" - Sweden, "VISA" - Norway).
This multifunctional watch includes an alarm, chronograph timer, two times zones, day of the week display and a light. Pushing one of the buttons on the front of the watch lights a small bulb to illuminate the LCD display. This suggests that the main power for the watch is provided by a battery and the solar cell was supplimentary. The date of the watch is estimated by the design
The company also made a solar model with a melody function.
