1976 - Sicura LCD
Sicura was an established Swiss watch brand, known for interesting designs and technological innovation. Sicura took a different approach from almost all others in the arrangement of the solar cells. (The watchband is not original on this example.)
The only other “side array, front display” digital watch I have seen is the 1977, “Micro Computer” or “Chronomat” made by National Semiconductor, cited in Pieter Doensen’s book.
The watch also came in a gold colored case.
Comment: This is a wonderful design. The blocky design of the case matches the squareish characters of the LCD display and the rectangular setting of the solar cells.
